West Bank to be sealed off ahead of Rosh Hashanah

Israel is the only nation in the Middle East that protects freedom of religion in the Middle East. But the terror threat by Palestinians continues to keep the Jewish worshippers from accessing the Temple Mount, their most Holy place, even on their most Holy Holidays.

Not only is it the Jewish New Year, it is also the Islamic New Year. There are threats of riots after the Islamic morning prayers in the Mosque built on top of the sacred Jewish Temple. That says it all.

The entire area of Judea / Samaria (West Bank) will be closed off for the High Holy Days.

If Muslims are given priority over the Jews in the Jewish State because of the threat of terrorism, have not the terrorists won?

Israel’s security forces are busy preparing for this evening’s eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The West Bank will be sealed off until Tuesday night. In addition, the Jerusalem District Police is preparing for possible clashes near the Temple Mount and has decided to not allow Jewish visitors to ascend the holy site.

Starting Sunday at midnight, the West Bank will be sealed off and all the border crossings into Gaza will be closed. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that only Palestinians with humanitarian, medical and urgent cases will be allowed to pass the blockade into Israel. All cases will need to be approved by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories. The blockade will be removed on Tuesday evening a minute before midnight in accordance to the security assessment.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem District Police is preparing for clashes near the Temple Mount. The police department fears that Muslim extremists will try to disturb the peace after the morning prayers at the holy site. Due to the fact that Muslims will be celebrating tomorrow the Islamic New Year and in light of intelligence information that the police department has gathered, it was decided to not allow Jewish visitors to ascend the Temple Mount.
